Torres del Paine
Paola and I went to the Torres del Paine for our 2009 vacations. This is located at the south end of Chile, some 300 kilometers north of the Strait of Magellan, next to the city of Puerto Natales.
There, during 7 days, we did the trekking circuit known as “the W”, because of the shape of the circuit on the map.
Even though I came back phisically tired, I did have a mental break, because I was successfuly able to disconect from everything back in Santiago (there wasn’t even cellphone signal).
The place is spectacular, beautiful landscapes never ended, and they were changing all the time. Apart from that, get had relatively good weather in general.
The first couple of days it was sunny and then it got cloudy. One day we got a bit of rain and even snow/white wind when we went to the valley del francés (central part of the W). Finally, the last 2 days were very windy and rainy too. Sometimes the wind was, according to what conaf (the chilean national park administration entity) said, up to 90 Km/h.
It was definitely a good vacation.
The next 2 posts show a couple of pictures (in reverse order). I’ve uploaded a photo pack with more and full resolution pics in case anybody is interested, download it here and here (24 MB each).
